(Reuters) – O rapper, produtor e empresário Kanye West, que mudou legalmente seu nome para Ye no ano passado, foi processado na quarta-feira por supostamente usar samples de uma canção do músico Marshall Jefferson sem permissão.
A Ultra International Music Publishing LLC disse que “Flowers”, do álbum de West “Donda 2”, inclui samples da música dance de 1986 de Jefferson, “Move Your Body”, repetidas pelo menos 22 vezes.
Um representante de West não respondeu imediatamente a um pedido de comentário, nem a gravadora de West, Universal Music Group, que não é parte no processo.
Um advogado da Ultra International, que detém os direitos da música de Jefferson, disse que a empresa não tinha comentários e acredita que o processo fala por si.
Jefferson é um pioneiro da house music da cidade natal de West, Chicago. De acordo com o processo, West e seus representantes reconheceram durante conversas com Jefferson que “Flowers” tem samples de “Move Your Body”, mas não obteve uma licença.
