Ao longo de tanto tempo de estrada, Jonathan relembra as dificuldades que enfrentou e torce pelo fim do preconceito contra o gênero.

Futuro em risco

Filho de Rômulo Costa, dono da “Furacão 2000”, e Verônica Costa, a “mãe loira” e atualmente vereadora pelo Rio, Jonathan nasceu em meio a realeza do funk que se popularizou por todo o Brasil desde o fim dos anos 1990.

“Sempre olhei muito para os meus pais com admiração. Construíram o sonho independente das dificuldades, eles lutaram pelo funk”, elogia o cantor.

Mesmo já tendo todos os meios para seguir a mesma carreira da família, o desejo de Rômulo e Verônica para o filho era outro. “Quiseram que eu fosse juiz, promotor… Até onde eles puderam segurar, eles foram”, conta. “Eu até tenho vontade de fazer faculdade, mais pelo hobby mesmo. Um dia realizo. Aprender nunca é demais”.

O funk, porém, foi implacável. Ainda na infância, Jonathan passava as tardes de domingo acompanhando as gravações dos pais no estúdio e fazendo amizade com DJs e MCs. Aos 7 anos, lançou seu maior hit, “Jonathan da nova geração” e o resto já é história.

Preconceito

A censura não funcionou e Jonathan continuou investindo na música com o passar dos anos. Hoje, quando vê o legado que ele e os pais deixaram, é só orgulho.

20 anos atrás, não podia ter funk em novela, em série. Hoje, somos trilha sonora. Funk é nossa cultura, produto de exportação. É porta-voz da realidade do momento. Os funkeiros dominam o streaming e o palco dos festivais

Nomes da época da “Furacão 2000” como Os Hawaianos, grupo com o qual Jonathan já trabalhou, conseguiram se reciclar e viraram febre mais uma vez com a ajuda do TikTok.

Outros que também passaram pela empresa dispensam apresentação: Anitta, Ludmilla, Dennis DJ, Lexa e Pocah. “A sociedade amadureceu. O preconceito ainda existe, mas o funk vai vencendo”, diz Jonathan.

Jonathan acredita que adotar o nome JonJon seja uma maneira de se tornar mais íntimo dos fãs, usando o apelido pelo qual é conhecido pelos amigos próximos. Mas a alcunha também marca um momento de virada em sua carreira.

“Há quatro anos, quis tocar como DJ e vi a necessidade de aprender a produzir que era algo que sempre deixava para depois. Não sou ‘da nova geração à toa’. Vou sempre me refazendo, me atualizando. E aí podem conhecer o Jonathan mais maduro”, explica.

Na nova música que será lançada no próximo mês, “OnlyPix”, o funkeiro brinca com a febre do OnlyFans que permitiu que muitos conseguissem faturar alto, vendendo conteúdos sensuais digitalmente.

“Fala sobre saber lidar com as oportunidades sem preconceito. Ser livre do jeito que somos, sem fazer mal a ninguém”, explica JonJon em papo com Splash. Mas será que ele investiria em um perfil na plataforma? “Não vou dizer nunca, não sei o dia de amanhã. No momento, estou tranquilo”, brinca.

Na vida pessoal, o funkeiro é pai de dois filhos, incluindo Salvatore, , com quem foi casado até 2017. Depois da polêmica da última semana, Jonathan diz não se abater diante dos .

“Nenhuma diferença entre nós será maior que o amor dos nossos filhos. Vou ter sempre carinho e respeito com a mãe deles. Não é passar a mão na cabeça, mas tento resguardar meu filho diante disso tudo”, conclui.
